Tollos is a small village at
the foot of Solana (944 m), looking out on Alfaro,
the Vall de Seta and la Serrella. In this photo we see it from Solana, with
Alfaro to the East
The attraction of Tollos for the
visitor lies in its peaceful atmosphere, so far removed from the hustle and
bustle of the big cities.
Tollos
was founded by moors. They built a castle at the top of the village, but nothing
remains of it now. The first reference to the Tollos dates to 1249, when the
distribution of village land was recorded.
Tollos
has a pleasant climate, and it rarely experiences extreme temperatures.
There are exceptions, however, and occasionally there have been heavy snowfalls,
as you can see in this photo
The
countryside around Tollos is great for walking,
with many forestry tracks through stunning landscapes.
There are a number of excellent 'casas rurales' in the
neighbouring villages that offer bed and breakfast if you fancy spending a few
days in the area.
Coming
down the main street, we can see la Serrella in the distance
