The Menu
 

Since Restaurant L'Antiga Escola opened in 2001, David has continued to experiment and expand the menu, and it's always been a challenge to find a way of offering new dishes while keeping old favourites. Our present solution is to offer a special set menu based on a particular theme or season - at the moment we're offering a special MENU DEL DIA - to introduce new flavours. However, a few of the old favourites are always on hand, and if there is something in particular that would really make your day, please mention in when you call to book and we will do our best to accommodate you

If you're new to Restaurant L'Antiga Escola, here are some of the dishes that have proved particularly popular with our customers over the years:
Starters
   
Toasted goat's cheese: toasted goat's cheese on slices of grilled aubergine, served with a fruit and tomato chutney
 
Courgette and mozzarella balls: crispy outside and spongy inside
   
Grilled wild mushrooms with Serrano ham, garlic and a hint of rosemary  
Warm salad: A delicious salad with a warm dressing of bacon, parmesan cheese, garlic, capers, croutons...
Thai salad with king prawns and a spicy coconut dressing.

Spinach crepes: Wafer-thin crepes baked in the oven with a filling of spinach, cream cheese, pine nuts and raisins.
Melt-in-the-mouth Roquefort and gruyere quiche, served with a side salad

 

Main Courses
Roast lamb with mountain herbs
Succulent Spanish lamb roasted with garlic and mountain herbs - rosemary, thyme and pebrella - served with a rich gravy
 
Rabbit cacciatoria
Rabbit in a rich sauce of bacon, tomato, mushrooms, red peppers and white wine

Escalopes of duck
Delicious slices of duck breast in breadcrumbs with a mango and orange sauce
 
Quails in blueberry sauce
Braised quails in a rich blueberry and red wine sauce. Served on a bed of tender vegetables
Steak
Top quality fillet or entrecôte steak served with a green pepper or Roquefort sauce and garnish
 
Thai curry
Spicy, tangy chicken curry with a coconut sauce, served on a bed of rice with gingered vegetables
 
Baked Salmon
A Scottish recipe for salmon, topped with a crunchy layer of lemon and herbs
 
Sea Bass with pesto
Grilled sea bass with a basil and garlic dressing, accompanied by Catalan mixed vegetables
 

 

Desserts
Home-made apple pie served with vanilla ice cream  
Chocolate decadence: wickedly delicious chocolate cake with a hint of amaretto, served warm with raspberry coulis and vanilla ice cream
Traditional Blueberry and almond pie: juicy blueberries in a pastry case, topped with almond frangipane
Walnut praline torte, made with walnuts, a hint of lemon and splash of rum, served with vanilla ice cream
Italian meringue: meringue with a creamy filling flavoured with vanilla and Kirsch, served with a raspberry coulis
Prunes soaked in Armagnac, red wine and cinnamon, served with vanilla ice cream
